When I first saw the New Super Mario Bros. WIi (NSMBW) I thought this was a quick game for Nintendo to make money on. When I mean quick I am growing to throw in, cheap. After months went by and seeing more of the game’s footage, I wanted this. The main reason I was sold on it was the return of the Koopalings from Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) and Super Mario World (SNES). If you are aware of New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS, it has the same mechanics and game play. The difference with the Wii is different power-ups, multi-player options and flashbacks from old enemies and airships. You can up to 4 players at the same time. After seeing footage and playing the game with my brothers over Thanksgiving, it was more challenging to get through a level without losing too many lives. The multi-player is mostly towards having fun and laughs than trying to be serious though the game. Besides multi-player, single player is fun. Power ups such as the penguin suit and ice flower reminds me of the famous leaf and tanooki suit in SMB3. Why is that? The leaf and tanooki suit lets you fly but the suit gives you extra moves (turn into stone). The ice flower and penguin suit same way, shoots ice but the suit gives you extra moves (move on ice, swim better and slide on ice on belly). The helicopter suit is fun and different, ability to fly up once, hover down or drill down to attack enemies (kind of reminds me of the leaf power up but without the running to fly and tail/ears).
I mentioned earlier I thought Nintendo was making this a quick, cheap game, it proved me wrong up to one thing, why two toads? I can understand one Toad but two seems cheap to me. I wouldn’t mind if you could play as Daisy. It would bring back memories of Super Mario Bros. 2 (the ability to switch between 4 characters: Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach).
Little things I personally find with the game is some of the frustration mechanics with the multi-player mode, cheap extra Toad, repetitive animations, can’t bring Yoshi to multiple levels (you leave him behind after completing the level, how lame). Overall a fun, great game to have in your Wii collection.

My personal business cards have been accepted and now on display at Card Observer’s website. Pretty sweet!
The card was designed from my self-promotion portfolio during my last year at college. The theme of my portfolio, based of the website are oranges. I used a wooden crate to carry portfolio samples, along with a couple real oranges as takeaways and tags to resemble my business card and resume. Thank you Card Observer!

I usually don’t post things such as, “hey check out this guy’s twitter!” or “OMG this person’s blog so ridiculously cool!”. But this time I will make an acceptation. I came across this from Digg and cracked me up on how someone is using their Twitter account. If you don’t know what Twitter is, it is pretty much the “new fade of social media” where you can post your current status or what you are thinking (in 140 characters) to anyone to read.
Back to reality, this guy named Justin who’s 28 living with his 73-year-old father and posts anything he says onto Twitter. It’s actually quite hilarious so I thought I share it, check out Justin’s twitter here.
Since we are on the subject of Twitter, remember to follow me if you have Twitter! TWEEEEEET!

If your Wii hasn’t gotten a lot of attention lately and has been gathering a lot of dust (like mine), then look no further! Muramasa: The Demon Blade arrives on U.S. shelves first week of September. The setting takes place in Feudal Era Japan, so expect creepy mythology creatures swarming all over the game, but gorgeously creepy creatures! The game has been released in Japan and has been sold out. Not only that but they never replenished the games there. Expect this game to be a gem if they stop producing it after releasing. Being a designer, this game looks gorgeous! Don’t believe me? Check out the clip below!

Hope everyone’s summer is going well! Whether you are doing something outside or watching a movie inside, enjoy it! For those who are in the Detroit area, I started a meet up group called “Graphic/Web/Motion Design”. You can visit here and catch the latest meet up and discussions. Get connections, discuss latest trends, tips on design and program software, meet new friends, etc.
On a side note, today is my younger brother’s birthday so if he is reading this, Happy Birthday!
I’ll have some more things to put up in the portfolio section but also may see some site changes (hopefully nothing keeps me distracted from this). You can always follow me on Twitter, Facebook and whatnot! Alright, play me off Keyboard Cat!

After my younger brother bought “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe” special edition for the Xbox 360, I thought I share to you the horrible packaging. For something that is worth $70, doesn’t seem so special now does it? Sure there are extra “goodies” but the way the package was put together isn’t something to be proud of owning. Thanks Midway for making this look like a college student’s mock-up project.
Feel free to see the set of photos I put together.

The game has been out for some time, BUT they fixed the online-multiplayer just recently (around Christmas). During my time-off from it all for the holidays, I downloaded the full version of the game on my Xbox 360 and I played it for hours and for days! Here’s a bit of game play to see what the fuss is all about:
The creators, The Behemoth, did an awesome job. The illustration/art, gameplay, music, just awesome. Heck, I don’t even think awesome is good enough to describe this game! If you have a Xbox 360, it’s 1200 points on their Xbox LIVE Arcade section.

Some of you are already aware and for those who are not, Chrono Trigger which is one of the best RPG (role-playing game) that ever surfaced, is coming out on the Nintendo DS. The game originally came out fall of 1995 for the Super Nintendo. I remember my younger brother and I play this game almost everyday right after school and spend the weekends playing this. The game made a return, with animated cut-scenes added, on the Sony Playstation in the summer of 2001. Again made my summer busy with just this game. Now, the game comes back but for the Nintendo DS on November 25, 2008.
So what is added to this port? New dungeons and wi-fi capability (to play with and against friends) is all that I know...for now. So is this a clever move by Square? Yes because people like myself will get this game. No updated graphics, just a port and added little features. To me this is an easy way for Square to make money and will show once it hits the shelves. I’m sure Square knows it and fans like myself know it. It’s just that damn good of a game. We the fans do wish they could made a sequel or at least make a version with updated graphics like Blue Dragon. Blue Dragon was made by the same developers and artist, so it would make perfect sense for them to handle an updated version of Chrono Trigger. Oh that’s right, the main developers split from Square so I guess that’s not much of an option.
Either way, Chrono Trigger is awesome and I’m a big fan of the game, so I will be getting it. But don’t expect much changes compared to the Playstation and Super Nintendo version.
